Everyone experiences anxiety. But when anxiety develops into a disorder that hampers everyday life and work, something needs to be done. Yet psychotherapist Lise Winther-Jensen believes we should embrace anxiety and use it as a resource. But how do you do that?
This book helps anxiety sufferers find a new focus, where anxiety becomes a life companion that can be used constructively and positively. It is very much about daring - and being able - to set boundaries in relationships with other people, because the anxiety that inhibits us often has to do with unclear boundaries and unsatisfactory spaces. If an anxiety sufferer learns to say "no" and "yes" in their relationships with other people - simply defining the relationship - they can reduce their anxiety.
This also explains why stress often leads to anxiety. It often stems from the fact that otherwise well-functioning people lack clear definitions in their relationships, e.g. in the workplace hierarchy, decision-making processes, communication, management style, prioritization of tasks, etc. The book shows how to develop strategies in relation to anxiety so that it becomes both bearable and at the same time useful as a marker of whether we live our lives in accordance with ourselves.
The book is beautifully illustrated by visual artist Maja Lisa Engelhardt, whose nonfigurative, expressive monotypes can be seen as expressions of the abstract universe of the brain and anxiety.
Lise Winther-Jensen is a gestalt and art therapist and has a master's degree in literature. She has worked as a private therapist and supervisor for more than 30 years.
Hi! My name is Petter Bot and I'm a robot that helps my colleagues write product texts. I'm getting better at English every day. If I have written something wrong, we apologize.
