About the interaction between courage and fear, strength and weakness, loneliness and togetherness, surface and depth.
The turmoil of modern life pulls us away from each other and the common ground. For fear of being alone - lonely and vulnerable - we dare not show our true face. Brené Brown encourages us to go the opposite way: We need to move closer together and stand by ourselves. Spend time with people who are not like us. Listen, engage in the difficult conversations, seek out the joy and be curious instead of locking ourselves in a defensive position.
This requires courage and trust. We must dare to hold on to our beliefs without digging ditches and learn to be present with others without forgetting ourselves. It can sometimes feel like standing alone in the wilderness.
Brené Brown tells a sometimes deeply personal story about learning to stand firm and be true to yourself. About realizing that you belong everywhere and nowhere. And discovering the power of community along the way.
The message is that we can find the courage to move into the wilderness and stand there as who we are.
About the author:
