The Gambler (1980)

TV western of the cosy and entertaining kind, which very appropriately has not found its way to the cinema. Kenny Rogers is gambler Brady Hawkes, who receives a letter from his son, who desperately needs his help. He sets off immediately, teaming up along the way with Billy Montana (Bruce Boxleitner), a young guy who thinks he knows everything about card games. Brady gives Billy an important lesson, but they end up becoming close friends and teaming up.

The Gambler - Part II: The Adventure Continues (1983)

Brady Hawkes aka 'The Gambler', his son Jeremiah and Billy Montana are on their way to a gambling event in San Francisco when they come across the dreaded McCourt gang (led by Mitch Ryan). The gang kidnaps Jeremiah and demands $1 million in ransom. Brady and Billy team up with Kate Muldoon (Linda Evans), the fastest woman in the West, in a race against time to rescue Jeremiah.

Bonus film: Coward of the County (1981)

Kenny Rogers may be in the cast, but Coward of the Country has nothing to do with the saga of 'The Gambler'. But it's probably quite enjoyable nonetheless.
