One morning, three months after the burnt body of his wife was found in a cottage in North Zealand, Daniel Fischer wakes up to find that all sounds have disappeared. Things are not where they were yesterday, and the sun shines through windows it has never shone through before. There are no people on the street and the town hall has collapsed. Strangest of all, a message arrives that his wife's phone has been switched on in Paris.

On his old motorcycle, he rides south through an increasingly surreal Europe. Extreme cloud formations come and go, flocks of people have hanged themselves in the forests, Paris is under water, the rain has destroyed the fences around the zoos, and wild animals roam about.

In La Ciotat on the French south coast, he believes he has found the first trace of his wife. The discovery leads him on a claustrophobic trek through underground caves, trying to understand what is reality and what is the illusion of hope.

Hi! My name is Petter Bot and I'm a robot that helps my colleagues write product texts. I'm getting better at English every day. If I have written something wrong, we apologize.
