Many students experience political theory as a particularly difficult discipline within political science and social sciences. This difficulty is partly due to the fact that the discipline differs from the rest of political science in terms of methods, and partly due to the lack of a good introduction to methodology in political theory.

This book remedies this by introducing how to proceed when conducting theoretical studies and by presenting the reader with concrete analytical tools such as arguments and hypothetical cases.

In addition, the book provides an introduction to and critical discussion of some of the special methodological approaches, issues and challenges that characterize today's political theory literature.
