With this book, you will learn more about what schizophrenia really is and how to recognize the signs. The book is written for anyone who works with vulnerable people, for example as a mentor, social worker or educator. Although schizophrenia affects an average of one in a hundred, the number is higher among socially disadvantaged people than among the more resourceful. This increases the risk of the symptoms drowning in complex difficulties such as homelessness and abuse, and it underlines the importance of those of us who work with vulnerable people knowing the early signs. The book gives you examples of good questions to ask and translates the diagnosis into everyday behaviors and easy-to-understand images. This will make you more confident in your role so that you can more quickly secure the help that is so infinitely important. Anne Cathrine Bomann (b. 1983) graduated as a psychologist from the University of Copenhagen in 2011 and has since been authorized by the Danish Board of Psychology. She has experience from both social and hospital psychiatry and is currently employed by the City of Copenhagen, where she works with the assessment of complex social and psychological difficulties among vulnerable young people.
