Who created the "Finger Plan", which is included in the Danish cultural canon? It was the architect Peter Bredsdorff (1913-1981), one of the most important Danish urban planners.
Peter, as everyone called this straightforward personality, became a teacher at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1939, was part of the resistance movement, and in 1955 became a professor of urban planning at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture.
The book shows a large and varied life's work and discusses the ideas that, for better or worse, lay behind urban planning in the years when the Danish welfare society was being built. With his legendary modesty, Peter was somewhat overshadowed by the older and more outgoing Steen Eiler Rasmussen. With this book, he takes his rightful place in history.
