The authors offer their take on modern Danish history didactics in this introduction to the subject of history in primary and secondary schools.
In the book, the two authors break down the boundaries between history teaching in primary and secondary schools to create a greater coherence in the students' experience of history and their benefit from the subject.
The authors provide a historical insight into the development of the subject as well as its current challenges and opportunities. In addition, there are chapters with specific exercises for grades 3-7 and grades 8-3 respectively.
The book is part of the Didaktik series, a total of 10 didactic books for teachers in primary and secondary schools as well as student teachers. All books in the series are practical, are filled with examples and exercises and are based on the latest research in the field.
Heidi Eskelund is a PhD in history didactics and teaches at Aarhus University and University College Lillebælt.
Rune Christiansen is an MA in history and lecturer in history didactics at the teacher education program in Aarhus and chairman of examiners for the history subject at the Danish teacher education programs.
