The forbidden knowledge picks up the thread from You Must Not Feel and sheds new light on the pain of early childhood that causes us lifelong difficulties. Alice Miller sharpens her criticism of the actual abuse that the child is subjected to mentally and physically, and of the concealment and idyllization that childhood is often dressed up in. Our tendency to take our parents' guilt upon ourselves and forgive them for all abuse makes true liberation and successful therapy impossible. In the second part of the book, Alice Miller talks about her personal path to the child in the adult and the need for accompaniment, in the land of childhood as well as in therapy. This leads to a sharp criticism of the Freudian method of therapy, which in her opinion prevents actual dream interpretation. Alice Miller (1926-2010), Swiss psychoanalyst, has also published Det selvudslettende barn, Livets veje, Tavshedsmurens fald, Du må ikke mærke and I begyndelsen var opdragelsen (In the beginning was the upbringing) with Hans Reitzels Forlag. Den bandlyste viden was first published in Danish in 1989 and is now reissued in Hans Reitzels Forlag's Classics series.
