When Mogens makes porridge, there is always an extra portion. Because Mogens and his family have always lived with both heaven and earth, God and the underworld. It's important to stay on good terms with both parties. But family is also important - and Mogens loves his late wife, Ingrid, and his great-granddaughter, Mette, the most. These two span his life and his hopes, his faith and his doubts. And the story of Mogens is therefore also the story of the two who have followed him everywhere - except one: to the Well Giant, the witch who awaited Mogens when he fell into the well as a boy. Long before that, Bonnavedde was born. His father was human and his mother was a mermaid. As a result, Bonnavedde was always at odds with the underground. Eventually, it became too much for him and he made plans to get rid of them. With the help of the local lads, Bonnavedde would let them meet their death. In The Well Giant, Mogens' and Bonnavedde's stories meet. It becomes a question of life and death.
